An Honor Just to be Nominated

The folks over at 3 Quarks Daily are awarding their third annual [prize](http://www.3quarksdaily.com/3quarksdaily/2011/11/stephen-m-walt-to-judge-3rd-annual-3qd-politics-social-science-prize.html) for "the best blog writing in politics & social science", and someone was nice enough to nominate [my musings on Anti-Star Trek](http://www.peterfrase.com/2010/12/anti-star-trek-a-theory-of-posterity/). A first round of voting is underway [here](http://www.3quarksdaily.com/3quarksdaily/the-nominees-for-the-2011-3qd-prize-in-politics-and-social-science-are.html), which will narrow the selections down to twenty semi-finalists; the winners will then be picked by celebrity guest judge Stephen Walt.

If you'd prefer not to inflate my ego any further, two other especially deserving choices were written by friends of this blog: [Corey Robin on conservative radicalism](http://coreyrobin.com/2011/09/27/revolutionaries-of-the-right-the-deep-roots-of-conservative-radicalism/) and [Aaron Bady on power and Occupy Cal](http://zunguzungu.wordpress.com/2011/11/11/the-grass-is-closed-what-i-have-learned-about-power-from-the-police-chancellor-birgeneau-and-occupy-cal/). Just whatever you do, please don't vote for that Ezra Klein post.

Looks like Corey Robin is ahead so far. His post is excellent, and hopefully this can partly counter the trashing he received in the NYT. I also highly recommend David Graeber on Naked Capitalism, a great read.
